Greg starting training with Michael at the studio in Oct 2010.
He came to us with significant rehabilitation and weight loss goals after a car accident.
Greg wanted to be able to pick something up off the floor, walk for 1km and lose weight to allow for hip surgery.
To date Greg has:
· Dropped from 151kg to 129kg,
· Has gone from training once per week with Michael to twice a week as well as completing a home program with his carer
· Can get on and off the floor (not just pick something up)
· And has progressed from not just rehab training to genuine strength and conditioning exercise.
· Greg is also learning about responsibility and decision making when it comes to food choices, especially when you are limited in your ability to shop for and prepare your own food.
With each kilogram Greg loses, he is one step closer to achieving the ultimate goal of hip surgery- Keep up the amazing work Greg!!!
Many of you would have met Murray and Cathryn at the studio, they have been training with us for a long time.
What you might not know, is behind that cheeky grin Murray has been battling with type 2 diabetes.
We are happy to report that after a concerted focus on nutrition and training with the specific outcome of reducing Murrays blood sugar levels and reliance on medication to manage his diabetes, in 7 weeks Murray has lost 13.9kg and Cathryn has lost 9kg.
His Blood Glucose Levels have dropped from 8.2 to 5.2 which has eliminated the dependence on 2 of his diabetes medications.
Amazing outcome for “Team Murray”
If you or someone you know needs a helping hand with diabetes or pre-diabetic management please call us, we have a team of Exercise Physiologists who would love to help you!
Our super hero!
Hello, I’m Amelia and I wanted to share my story with you in the hope that it can help you too.
I’m 74 and have had arthritis in all of my joints for the past 30 years and it’s become chronic over the past 3 years.I began to lose the strength in my hands and drop everything, my overall strength was failing, luckily I was already in a routine of going to gym.
I’ve been going to see Callum and the team for approximately 20 years. I was doing some Pilates, light weight lifting and some balance work, but not really enough to make a difference to my advancing arthritis.
One day I realised I needed more help, actual strength training, so I talked to my instructor Callum at Fitness Success and he helped me by designing a different program focused just on weightlifting, balance and building up my legs (as I’ve had two knee replacements).
Since he’s put me on this program to meet my needs, things have changed that much that even doctors and my chiropractor have asked me to share my story in the hope that I can help other people in a similar situation.
People I meet say I’d love to be able to play with my grandchildren or be more active, but I can’t.
I know they can, as I have changed things, and you too can get a much better quality of life.
This particular studio specialise in getting you mobile and stronger. They care about you and all the instructors are there to really help you.
I wish you all the best in health and happiness.
Many of you would have met Lillian training at the studio.
When she started with us in 2012 her first goal was to have a trainer walk with her outside to build up her confidence.
That goal has been well and truly met and we love to see Lil walking past with her dog! She is also about to head off on a hiking/walking holiday in Europe- amazing stuff!
To Lillians credit she has worked through injuries, illness and working shift work and has turned up consistently week after week.
Here are some words from Lillian:
I have been a Fitness Success client for a number of years now and train with them 2-3 times a week. My trainers show a strong commitment to my fitness goals and ultimately, my success.
I like to train with more than one trainer as I believe I can benefit from their individual strengths.
They have helped me set fitness goals and most recently have been very supportive of my weight loss endeavour (23kg so far).
My trainers have excellent knowlege/skills and set realistic and achieveable goals for me.
There is a relaxed, friendly and engaging atmosphere at the studio and you are not pressured into performing. You are simply encouraged to work hard to be your best.
They have made exercise a fun experience not a chore. I am now fitter, healthier and happier.
Thank-you to Callum and the team at Fitness Success, with special thanks to Harley and Caitlyn (my current trainers).
What we love about Lillians story is that she has been so open and honest about where she is, where she wants to be and has changed her goals as required and to suit her health and lifestyle. Kudos to you Lillian for your hard work and persistence!!
I want to thank Michael and all the helpful and supportive staff at Fitness Success. Callum has put together a great team who are very professional and know how to help you succeed at achieving your fitness goals.
Two years ago I had major cardiac surgery and after completing a rehab program was looking for somewhere that offered Exercise Physiology and a Fitness program. What impressed me most was the way Michael took the time to understand me as a whole person, where I had come from, what my goals were and what were my existing strengths and weaknesses. He knew when to push me, when to back off, how to work around current and previous injuries and medical conditions, and even included advice and suggestions about dietary matters. I have lost, and kept off 18 kgs, are stronger and fitter than I have been for over a decade and best of all am able to enjoy my favourite hobby - surfing. I can now spend an hour or two in the water, catch many more waves than I have for years, and get out with a smile on my face rather than gasping for breath.
The most telling sign of his professionalism was that at our last session he said to me ‘I don’t think there is much more I can do for you, we don’t need to schedule in another session’. There was no hard or subtle sell to continue, he knew I had achieved my goals and was willing to let me decide whether or not I want to go to the next level.
I have also had the pleasure of training with a range of Callum’s team. All of them modelled the same professional approach and genuinely had my interests at the forefront of each session-what a great way of achieving Fitness Success.
I have been training at Fitness Success for approx 2 years, It’s such a wonderful training environment!
You have staff that genuinely care about you and your goals, personalised training sessions to help you achieve those goals, trained staff who each have their own specialties, they can help you overcome injury, gain fitness and health, lose weight you name it, they will do everything they can to help you! Everyone there, staff and patrons are welcoming and friendly! I can't recommend them highly enough!
If you are looking for place that works for you then this is it!
Five star rating !!!!!!
I have been training under the watchful eye of Callum at Fitness Success for approximately 12 months. I compete at an elite level in dressage, an equestrian sport which is extremely technique focused.
Since training with Callum he has identified issues with my posture and strength that have also been present in my riding (for years!). We have worked a lot on my postural alignment and strength building which has been tailored to get the optimum performance from by riding and at competitions. I am also a lot more "posturally aware". Since training with Callum my riding and technique have greatly improved and in 2017 came 4th at the Australian Championships as well as winning my classes at other competitions with a number of personal best scores. This year we are working towards competing at the top level, Grand Prix. I look forward to achieving many more goals in my sport with the support and guidance of Callum and highly recommend his services for anyone who wants to perfect their technique, especially equestrian riders.
I have been using Fitness Success for over 15 years. The trainers are all great and friendly people and they will develop a program to suit your individual needs. My program has been tailored for general fitness and assisting me with maintaining peak condition for my sport of lawn bowls.
